Car Fire on I-95

On January 18, at 1819hrs, The Rye Fire Department was dispatched for a motor vehicle fire on Interstate-95 near the Playland Parkway overpass. Car 2422 was first on scene and reported a fully engulfed car fire just south of Playland Parkway, in the south-bound lanes. The car fire was quickly extinguished but the traffic was built up for a few miles. All occupants in the vehicle escaped without injury. During the incident, The Harrison Fire Department was put on standby for any calls in the Rye Fire District. After the car was towed away, all RFD units returned to service.
