At approx 0715 Hours on Sunday, January 18th, the Rye Fire Department was alerted to a Multi-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 95 Southbound, at Exit 19 (Playland Parkway). Responding units encountered severe icing on local and state roads. Once units arrived, firefighters found an 8 car pileup with several minor injuries. Due to the backup in EMS calls, Larchmont VAC responded to take the patients to a local hospital. The highway remained closed until tow trucks were able to relocate vehicles to the shoulder.

While units operated on I-95, Engine 193 was manned by a full crew at HQ. Additional EMS calls in the City of Rye were covered by Harrison EMS, Mamaroneck EMS and Armonk FD/EMS.

Units: Car 2421, Car 2422, Engine 191, Engine 192, Ladder 26, Utility 49
