On Saturday, October 17th, The Rye Fire Department was dispatched to a home on Lakeside Drive in Harrison for a possible chimney fire. Rye firefighters were quickly on the scene and found a heavy smoke condition in the attic crawlspace. With that finding, the incident commander requested additional manpower to scene and a FASTeam. Using a single handline, Firefighters were able to douse the flames that were contained to the area around the chimney. Holes in the roof were cut to hit several hot spots that were discovered. Once the fire was out, firefighters assisted the homeowners with cleaning out the damage.
While the house in geographically located in the Town of Harrison, The Rye Fire Department protects this particular part of Harrison due to its proximity to our Locust Ave Firehouse. This part of Harrison is known as The Town of Harrison Fire Protection District #3.
