On Sunday, April 15, a record Nor'easter dumped over 6 inches of rain on Rye. The timing of the rain, run off from surrounding communities, and high tide made flooding worse than the flooding of March. In a scene similar to only a few weeks ago, residents were rescued by boat, fire trucks and front loaders. The previous rain, high tide, and flooding occurred during the day and when most people were at work. The culmination of Sunday's events were much later as the peak downpour and high tide were well into the evening. Damage to Rye homes and businesses were significant.
