Driving Winds and Rain Keep Rye Firefighters Busy

The Sound Shore area was pelted by heavy rains and hurricane-force wind gusts throughout the day on Monday January 25, 2010.

Weather equipment at Rye Playland clocked a top wind speed of 81 MPH at 11:16am

Rye Firefighters are all too familiar with storm-related calls ( See: http://www.ryefire.com/index.cfm?fs=news.newsView&News_ID=2 and http://www.ryefire.com/index.cfm?fs=news.newsView&News_ID=6 ) and dealt with six calls ranging from activated automatic fire alarms to wires down.
