| On Friday October 21, 2011 at approximately 1:30 PM Rye firefighters were dispatched to 66 Milton Road, The Blind Brook Lodge a 5 story occupied multiple dwelling, on a reported smoke condition. Calls to 911 indicated buildings H and J with smoke conditions in the hallways and apartments. First on the scene Career firefighters with Engines 191, 192 and Ladder 25 quickly found an electrical fire inside the walls of the basement while Volunteer firefighters searched and evacuated the building above of all occupants. A water supply was quickly established and 1 line was stretched into the basement to extinguish the fire. Con Ed electric responded and cut power to the building while the situation was investigated and corrected. |
