Car extrication drill at Milton Firehouse with Top Rung Training:
Members of all four of Rye Fire Department's Volunteer Companies met for an excellent training session with Top Rung Training, whose instructors provided a refresher on vehicle extrication techniques. Firefighters went over initial scene assessment, securing the scene (cribbing techniques) and the use of both power-tools (hydraulic cutters and spreaders) and manual tools (irons) to remove windows, doors and roof for the purposes of removing passengers and/or providing medics the maximum space in which to work. Thanks to Chief Taylor and FF O'Donnell for setting this up, and to FF Acevedo for providing a car (not his own!).

Units: Participating companies: Milton Hose, Milton Fire Police Patrol, Poningoe Engine & Hose, Poningoe Hook & Ladder Rigs and equipment: E192, U39, L26, 2421
