Rye firefighters were dispatched to an early morning basement fire at 19 Franklin Ave on Thursday morning. The call came in at 6:57 AM and Rye firefighters were quickly on scene. Engine 192 was first on the scene reporting smoke in the structure, followed by Ladder 25 transmitting the 10-75 (working fire). The fire displaced a family of 4 with most of the damage contained to the basement area. No injuries were reported and the fire was declared under control in about an hour and a half. Working smoke detectors alerted the family of the fire in the house. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Rye was assisted by Harrison, Town of Mamaroneck FAS Team and Larchmont Fire Departments. The Larchmont fire department provided the Rehab unit due to the extreme high heat and humid weather.
