At 13:26 hours on January 28, The Harrison Fire Department was dispatched to 12 South Canterbury Road for a reported car fire. Harrison car 2164 was first on scene and reported a fully involved car fire approximately 10 feet from the structure. Car 2162 then reported the car fire was being fed by the car's leaking gas tank and that Engine 13 had to stretched to a hydrant. Because of the difficulty in controlling the fire, 2162 requested one engine from Rye with manpower to the scene. Cars 2421, 2423, Engine 191 and Utility 39 (with manpower) responded shortly thereafter. It took approximately 20 minutes to get the fire under control. Village of Mamaroneck Engine 38 was requested to standby for Harrison in their quarters for the duration of this incident. The Department of Environmental Conservation was notified when a small amount of gas released into a small creek. All units were clear of the scene and standby units were released at 14:25 hours.
