Rye FD assists Rye PD with Route 1 Closure

On Sunday March 12, The Rye Police Department was alerted about a tree that was hanging on wires and would fall onto Boston Post Road any minute. RPD officers requested Con Ed and Rye DPW on an expedite due to the danger of the tree falling on high tension power lines. For safety reasons, Boston Post Road was shut from Barlow Ln to Rye Rd until Con Ed was able to remove the tree. Traffic was detoured through Greenhaven for the duration of the closure. Rye FD was later requested to assist Rye PD with traffic control and scene protection while Con Ed continued their work. The road was opened for traffic and RFD Units went back into service at approximately 17:15 hours.
