| Despite the hot temperatures, families came out to support the Rye Free Reading Room at their annual Vehicle Fair at Osborn Elementary School on June 2nd, 2013. The Rye Fire Department was in attendance with one engine, one ladder and one utility truck. Kids of all ages were able to climb on our apparatus and learn a little bit about firefighting. Other vehicle fair participants included an ambulance, school bus, police cars, bucket truck and much more. There was also a silent auction, raffles, games and rides for kids to ride on. As part of our Rehab Unit on Utility 39, members of the Rye Fire Department set up a cooling tent with chairs and cold water that was open to the public.
At approximately 1:30pm, Car 2421 and Utility 39 left the fair to respond to a fluid leak at the Marshlands Conservancy. |
