The Milton Point Firehouse Buddha

Many who have driven, walked or ran by our firehouse on Milton Road may have wondered why we have a wood-carven Buddha on our front apron.

During the Super Storm Sandy, high tides picked up this sculpture from its home on Milton Point. The Buddha floated north until it beached itself right in front of our Milton Point Firehouse (Station 2). Until we heard from the owner, we left it in front of the firehouse so it could be claimed. However, the owner decided to donate it to the Fire Department in honor of our efforts during the storm.

Since then, the Buddha has become a steaple of the fire house. During holidays, firefighters have decorated the Buddha who doesn't have a name just yet.
