| The Summer of 2007 was not boring for the Rye Fire Department in any way. Fire fighters were kept busy with more than 100 calls per month in the last four. Calls including car accidents, water rescues, and the occasional lightening strike. Yet in between the vacations with families and three in the morning false alarms, many members found time to make it up to the Fire Training Center in Valhalla, NY. Members from all four companies participated in a number of training classes including Mass Decontamination, Firefighter 2, Pump Operator, and Truck Company Operations just to name a few. In total, volunteers took over 200 hours of training this Summer and more are signed up for Fall classes. Before the month is done, the RFD will continue it's training on a house in Rye scheduled to be torn down. Also, this Sunday, members of the Ladder Company will take a trip out to see the new Ladder 25, check back next week for pictures. |
