Fire Apparatus usually last for approx. 20 years. Because of this, every few years the Rye Fire Department needs to purchase a new truck. The time has come to replace the current Engine 191, a 1994 Pierce Lance Rescue/Pumper.

Purchasing a fire truck isn't like purchasing a car. Fire trucks are custom built to department-designed specifications. As of the November 2013 Board of Fire Wardens meeting, The Poningoe Engine and Hose Company has announced the formation of the Apparatus Committee to replace Engine 191. The Committee Members are as follows

2nd Assistant Chief Mike Billington (Chair of Committee)
Captain Acevedo
Lieutenant Teitjen
Lieutenant Scarfone
Firefighter Billington
City Garage Foreman Billy Micalizzi
