2013 proved to be a challenging year for the Rye Fire Department.

In total RFD responded to 888 calls for service in 2013, including 7 structure related fires, 3 motor vehicle accidents requiring extrication and 1 motor vehicle accident with ejection.

The most notable (and most difficult) incident that RFD faced was the structure fire on Magnolia Ln on September 19th. This fire required 7 different fire departments and other first response agencies to control the flames. RFD operated at this fire for over 10 hours.

Throughout the year, firefighters participated in department and/or County FTC training. Training topics included, engine company operations, ladder company operations, extrication techniques, vehicle stabilization and CPR/AED/First Aid training. Firefighters also completed mandatory OSHA refresher courses. On multiple occasions, RFD was able to train with other fire departments, including Harrison and Port Chester FDs.

In 2014, we look forward to serving the residents and visitors inside the City of Rye Fire District.
