In the early morning hours of Friday, March 3rd, Rye FD was dispatched to a possible fire in the floor at a home on North Kirby Lane. The police department was first on scene and helped a resident evacuate the structure. Fire apparatus and manpower arrived shortly thereafter and began to search for and fight the fire. The fire was difficult to access because of the cluttered conditions inside the house. Once the fire was found in the floor and walls, it was quickly extinguished. Firefighters remained on scene until the house was condemned by the City of Rye Building Department. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
