While operating at a standby at Rye Playland, Rye FD was dispatched to a home on Bennett St for a reported structure fire. Harrison FD, who was also at the standby, remained while Rye Firefighters responded to Bennett St. Units were updated enroute that the homeowner reported a fire in an attached garage and that everyone was out of the structure. Car 2422 was first on scene and reported that he had a working fire in the garage of the home and requested that Engine 192 grab a hydrant and lay in for additional water supply. Using a K-12 saw, firefighters made entry into the garage and were able to quickly extinguish the fire before it spread to other parts of the home. Using a Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC), which senses heat, Firefighters checked the surrounding areas of the home and confirmed that the fire did not spread past the garage and attached laundry room.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services (WCDES) Cause and Origin Team (Zone 2).
