At 0526 hours on Wednesday, July 1st, The Rye Fire Department was dispatched to a home on Hillside Place for a reported structure fire. Rye PD units arrived on scene first and updated responding units that there was a fire in the home's attic and that everyone had evacuated. Car 2421 was the first Rye FD unit on scene and reported a working fire, requesting a 10-75 assignment be dispatched.

Crews quickly made their way to the attic of the home where the bulk of the fire was located. Hose lines were stretched to the attic to extinguish the fire. Due to power lines in front of the home, crews had difficulty accessing the home's roof. With slight maneuvering, firefighters were able to make their way to the roof and ventilate. Once the fire was knocked down, firefighters went to overhaul and salvage operations.

All units were clear of the scene at approx. 1000 hours. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation by the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services Cause and Origin Team (Zone 2).

The Rye Fire Department would like to thank our mutual aid partners who assisted us on the scene and with providing backfill coverage at our Fire HQ.
