| On an unseasonably warm Saturday in February, Firefighters from the Rye, Harrison and Purchase Fire Departments met at Rye Fire HQ to drill. This month's topic was ice water rescue and how to safely remove people and animals from ice covered or frozen bodies of water. This drill started with a classroom component where firefighters learned a variety of knowledge and skills, including how to don and doff water survival rescue suits. In the afternoon, Firefighters moved to The Rye Marina where they were able to put the skills they learned to practice. Special thanks to Harrison FD and Purchase FD for attending and to Dragon Rescue for leading this course! |
