In the early morning hours of Saturday, May 28th, The Rye Fire Department was dispatched to Interstate I-287 near the ramp to I-95 NB for a reported Motor Vehicle Accident with entrapment. Upon The Fire Department's arrival, the sole occupant of the vehicle was standing on the shoulder of the highway in the care of an EMT and Paramedic with Port Chester-Rye-Rye Brook EMS. The Driver veered off the road and deeply into the woods. The driver was able to exit the vehicle and climb to safety with the help of another motorist who stopped to make sure everything was ok. Luckily, the driver only sustained minor injuries.

With the vehicle near a quarter mile into the woods and down an embankment, removing the vehicle wasn't an easy task and required fire department assistance.

Rye FD units cleared the scene at approximately 7:00am. The New York State Police are investigating the cause of this accident.
