| Shortly after 6pm on Monday, May 19, the Harrison Fire Department was called to 20 Griswold Road, on the Westchester Country Club grounds, after a neighbor reported smoke from the structure. Arriving units soon realized that the interior of the house, which was unoccupied and gutted for construction, was heavily involved and that an exterior/defensive attack was necessary. As Harrison's Tower Ladder 24 set up on the A/B corner of the house, their Chief called for Rye's Ladder to respond to the scene for Master Stream Operations. Ladder 25 responded, along with several volunteer firefighters, and set up at the D/A corner of the structure, fed by over a thousand feet of 5" hose from Village of Mamaroneck's Engine 38. During this incident, a separate crew of Rye volunteers manned Ladder 26 at HQ to cover any alarms in Rye while Ladder 25 was operating in the neighboring jurisdiction. Thankfully no residents or firefighters were injured during the blaze. |
