| On Sunday May 3rd, 2009 the Rye Fire Department welcomed the Rye Newcomers and Neighbors Club for its second annual family day at the Milton firehouse. RFD volunteers provided tours of the firehouse, demonstrations of "tools of the trade" and explanations of firefighter responsibilities. 48 individuals from 19 families attended the event. Parents and children alike were enthusiastic about the fire department and were prepared with lots of good questions. The event concluded with a demonstration of Ladder 26 and a group photo. Special thanks to Rye Newcomers and Neighbors organizers Jen Boyle, Kerri Eklund and Diane Shabaan and Rye Volunteer Firefighters Peter Donahue, Dan Bochicchio, John Cotter, Rich Cadigan, Rich Coshal, Alastair Murdoch, Neil O'Donnell, James Cooper, Lori Talento, Joe Latwin, Patrick Feeley and Mike Szwajkowski.
