On Wednesday June 22nd, several members of The Rye Fire Department were able to work with Mike Donavan, from Top Rung Training Associates, LLC, on ladder bailouts and forcible entry as part of our ongoing training program. Ladder bailouts are an essential part of firefighter safety and survival, a "last ditch" effort if a firefighter is pinned inside a structure by the spreading fire. Forcible entry is important in gaining access to structures where a key-holder is not immediately available and there is obvious life/ safety hazards within the structure. We could not have this training without the donation of a home. The Rye Fire Department would like to thank this homeowner for donating this house for training purposes. If you are the homeowner of a house that is going to be torn down, and would not mind if the RFD uses your house for training, please email info@ryefire.com or call us at 914-967-4530.
