9-11-2001 Memorial

On September 11, 2001 four U.S. planes hijacked by terrorists crashed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania killing nearly 3,000 people. Of the FDNY firefighters that responded on the alarm from Box 8087, 343 would make the ultimate sacrifice.

With the loss of manpower and over 98 pieces of equipment, the Rye Fire Department was called to support their brothers in their time of need. Engine 191 was called to Ground Zero and Ladder 26 was dispatched to the Bronx.

On September 11, 2008 a memorial plaque at the entrance to Rye Fire Headquarters was unveiled.
