Rye Firefighters Hold Hose Training

By Firefighter Jeff Loddo
September 14, 2011

At 1930hrs on September 14th Rye Firefighters with assistance from Top Rung Training held a drill at Rye DPW to review use of our 2.5 inch "attack line" hose. The 2.5 inch hose is the larger of two diameters of "attack lines" that is normally carried on the apparatus. Used primarily as the hose line in larger commercial structures or as an exterior hose line in a residential fire scenario; the 2.5 inch line presents firefighters extra physical challenges due to the increased amount of water the hose line is able to supply and the forces exerted by that water. The firefighters practiced use of the hose in 1,2,and 3 man scenarios in order to better prepare themselves for any situation that they may confront.

Units: Engine 193, Utility 39, Utility 49
