On October 16, 2011, Rye volunteer firefighters came out to support the Colin Leslie Walk for Celiac Disease at Rye High School. This event is founded by Milton Point Hose Company member Colin Leslie and takes place every fall. The walk attracts close to 1000 participants and has raised over $280,000 for research and awareness, all of which is donated to the Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University. The Rye Fire Department provided support for the event by having two apparatus in attendance for families to enjoy and learn about what it's like to be a firefighter.
