On October 12, 2012 at 4:37 PM the Rye fire department responded to Boston Post RD at Eldridge PL for a reported Motor Vehicle Accident with possible extrication. Engine 192 and Ladder 25 were quickly on scene along with the Rye police department and found a single car accident with a car into a utility pole. The car split the pole in half and caused multiple power lines to come down. The first arriving units determined no extrication was needed but the driver had unknown injuries and was taken to nearby hospital. The status of the driver is unavailable at this time and there were no other injuries. The Boston Post Rd was closed for about 1 hour in both directions due to the pole and live wires down in the roadway. Con Edison was quickly on scene and had power up and running.
