November 27, 2015

On Friday, November 27th, at approx. 1100 hours, the Rye Fire Department was dispatched to a business on Purchase Street for an unknown type fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from behind a tile wall. Once hot spots were detected with a Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC), Firefighters used saws and hooks to cut through the tile, wood and plaster to gain access to the fire. Firefighters quickly stretched hose lines to knock down all visible flames. Firefighters checked all 4 floors of the building for extension and vented the structure of Carbon Monoxide. The Town of Mamaroneck Fire Department was called to the scene as a FASTeam and also provided manpower to help extinguish the blaze. The fire was placed fully under control at approx. 1200 hours.
