March 14, 2010

Dozens of Rye streets remain blocked by fallen trees and wires, and hundreds of residents are without power this morning as the City of Rye begins to clean up from yesterday's massive storm. Rain continues to fall, but it appears that the worst is behind us. Last night the flood abatement bulkheads were installed at the Milton Point Firehouse (see photos) due to its proximity to the rapidly rising Blind Brook. Water reached the rear parking lot and front apron but the building was spared a deluge. Dozens of calls for service were and continue to be answered.
